My friend admitted to me that he is suffering from depression two days ago. He is having issues with his new startup business, funding and all. Given the fact that he lives alone, about 100 km away from family. He has observed disinterest in life. He has recurrent stress and frustration attacks. And has also felt difficult maintaining sleep.

Even with a wonderful like you , if he is able to share completely about his issues, I think it would be better to consult a neutral person like Counsellors and get a clarity about his business and it's status and future prospects.
