Usually the efficacy of prolonged release tablets reduces if you break it. That’s all. Otherwise it’s safe. But I would suggest you take a full tablet for a couple days before you decide whether or not you can tolerate it. Only then you may consider to cut it in half. Because 100 mg of BupronXl is not a very high dose.

It is usually advised to not cut prolonged released tablets in half. Bupropion is also available in immediate release form in 100mg dose and can be cut in half.

Bupropion 100mg is not a very high dose and it is very safe to start with. Try taking the tablet for a few days to see if there are any adverse effects (dry mouth, constipation, headache, abdominal pain). If you're experiencing them, consult your treating doctor
