If you had not went for the filling it means your root canal treatment is not completed. It means there must be infection again you have to again go for ReRCT and then capping to save your tooth.

Do you have any kind of pain or sensitivity in the tooth which was Rct treated. If there are no symptoms ,any dental crown shall be enough to treat your case. If there is any pain or sensitivity issues.. You need to get a Radiographic evaluation to find out if there is an infection developing again.
