Hi
I have undergone a lot of scans in the last 2 years to monitor the progress of liver cyst and retrocaval ureter.
Till now I had 3 whole abdomen CT scans with contrast, 2 IVPs and 2 renogram and a few x rays one KUB region and 2 chest.
I recently had a surgery of my ureter and might have to go for another IVP or renogram to see whether obstruction is completely resolved. I already opted for an MRI for further investigation.
My question is as I am exposed to this much radiation and ionising radiation is harmful and can cause damage to the DNA. The doctor is saying I might have to go for another CT scan to see the progress for liver cysts in a few months. Is it okay to have another scan in a few months or I can opt for MRI again. The doctor was suggesting that sometimes a CT scan is necessary to get an overall picture.
