Coughing after CABG surgery
My father was discharged from the hospital this Tuesday for his CABG operation done on Tuesday the week before that, it's been three days but there is continues coughing while he talks in the past 3 days, is this ohkay or do I need to worry about this, as it is hampering his sleep and mood as it hurts the recently stitched chest part!

Cough can be because of in adequate mucus clearance from respiratory tract as patient takes shallow breathing due to pain and another reason can be allergic if postoperative heart function is normal
Next Steps
Try chest physio and analgesics and decrease fluid intake restrict to 1.5 ltr per day and any cough syrup

Get a chext xray done May I know his echocardiography report Sometimes LV dysfunction is the reason for which medications should be started
