Coughed up dark red sputum
I am a smoker, around 4 to 5 cigs in a day. And last week i coughed up dark red sputum of a thickes consistency, it almost seemed like a fine tube in my mouth and rough the second time. First time i did not notice. Has happened thrice only.
Need to know if it should be ignored or investigated further.
Happened thrice in a week, 10 days ago and not after that. Also do not see any perceptible difference in cough or voice sounds.

Hi...you neee to evaluate the cause of blood in sputum....there has to be a cause...it is not normal...hence get yourself examined by your doctor.

If you are getting persistent blood tinged sputum then you should consult your nearby physician and get yourself investigated for the cause.Not to be ignored

This needs investigation. Please see a chest specialist. May be inconsequential also. But you need consultation.
