Sometimes it takes almost a year to regain normal menstrual cycles when you stop injectible contraception. How ever it can always occur anytime after stopping and there is always a chance of getting pregnant when you are off contraception. Oral contraceptives can be used as an alternative if you want to avoid pregnancy and stopping their use almost always is followed by onset of menstrual cycles.
