Constant pain in rib area
I am a 41 yr. old male with pain in the upper shoulder blades (not often), predominately the right side rib cage hurts and is swelling (very painful - constant when it comes on) - no discoloration but it feels like a muscle stuck between the ribs. I am a smoker 1 pack. Test done so far: upper & lower GI a stress test was done cardiograms of heart sleep studies camera in the urethra - bladder - all tested negative Blood test - shows infection on & off Vitamin D deficient

Chest pain has different possibilities. You should be physically examined by a qualified doctor to rule out any disease related to heart like coronary artery disease. Then the chest pain may spread to your arm, shulder, jaw, or back. It may feel like a pressure or squeezing sensation. Angina can be triggered by exercise, excitement, or emotional distress and is relieved by rest. Pluritis this condition is an inflammation or irritation of the lining of the lungs and chest. You likely feel a sharp pain when you breathe, cough, or sneeze. The most common causes of pleuritic chest pain are bacterial or viral infection. Also it may be due to muscle strain , stress ,costochondritis -you may often experience chest pain in the upper and middle rib area on either side of the breastbone. The pain may radiate to the back or the abdomen. It may also get worse if you move, stretch, or breathe deeply. Detailed physical examination necessary
