Consistent cough
Hey! I have been suffering from a consistent dry cough for the past couple of weeks. I have tried home remedies as well as ayurvedic meds, but cough still persists. It gets resolved for the time period in which I am on a medication course, but it comes again after I stop the meds. This happens whenever I get sick, all other symptoms resolve but cough persists for a very long time. Any good suggestions or advice would be very beneficial. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat MS ENT Persistent dry cough lasting weeks after illness may indicate post-viral cough, allergic airway irritation, or underlying conditions such as asthma, GERD, or sinus-related drip. Since symptoms recur after stopping medication, a detailed clinical evaluation and investigations (like chest X-ray or spirometry) are advisable to identify the cause and plan appropriate management.
