Hello,
Sorry to hear what you are going through. Anyway recovery from colostomy closure will depend upon procedure. Usually 1 week to 2 week hospital stay is necessary with Intravenous fluid, parenteral nutrition and all. After discharge it will take another couple of week or so for regaining of bowel functions. In the mean time you may experience constipation or diarrohea. Bowel frequency may be as high as 10 -15 times a day. Flatulence, stool incontinence, leakage are commonly seen. All this will lead to some suffering for another month or so. All this time you have to strictly adhere to diet plan prescribed by your surgeon or doctor under whom you are being treated ( dietary advices will include avoidance of spicy food, fatty meals, alcohol, citrus food! , cabbage, onions etc ).
Hope you will get well soon. God bless you.
Thank you.
