Cognitive impairment
It's been almost two years. My mom had an episode of aphasia. The episode lasted only a few days but ever since then, she's had cognitive impairments and personality changes. Her condition keeps fluctuating between better and worse. Her memory is intact and language has improved. Two MRIs were done.

Hello. As per your description, it seems that your mother had stroke which is due to interruption in blood supply to a part of the brain. This had led to aphasia which gradually improved.  After stroke, personality changes which may manifest as anger outbursts, impulsivity, mood changes etc. are quite common. These can be managed with some environmental modification, medicines and cognitive retraining. Regards.
