After a vaccination like the PCV (pneumococcal conjugate vaccine), it’s common for babies to exhibit minor side effects, such as a slight fever or irritability. Respiratory symptoms like a cough or a runny nose are less commonly associated with the vaccine and are more likely due to a common cold or other viral infection, which can occur coincidentally around the time of vaccination. It’s also possible that sudden changes in the weather or climate can contribute to respiratory symptoms. However, if a child is experiencing respiratory symptoms, it’s important to monitor them closely.
Next Steps
Monitor the child closely.
