Circular rash below neck

My mom has this circular rash right below her neck. She tried applying Betnovate cream, but no good result. It is still persisting after 2 weeks. What is it? Any easy remedy?

Hi there...from the rashe it looks like your mom gas tinea corporis infection. It is basically a fungal infection. But she is applying betnovate which is a steroid creams, which is contraindicated in case of infections. It will only exacerbate the infection. If the rashe is only limited to neck, let her apply terbinafine cream twice daily for 4 weeks. If the rashes are extensive, then kindly consult a dermatologist for further evaluation. She might require even oral antifungals. For itching she can take levicetrizine 5 mg , once in the night after food. To
