Chickenpox at the age of 22
I am 22 yrs old female suffering from chicken pox since last 5 days... I never had it in childhood, nor I have been vaccinated against it ever... My siblings also get infected by it but they have got quite a lot blisters as compared to me.My blisters are relatively very low around 50 in all... I want to know whether I would be in more risk of having chicken pox again? What about Shingles? And from when I can rejoin my office?

Your body builds immunity against the chicken pox virus(Varicella Zoster) after getting affected by it so the risk of developing it again is less. Shingles is a viral infection that causes a painful rash by the same chicken pox virus but this is seen to effect those with a low immunity. Because it is so contagious, a not vaccinated person who is exposed to chickenpox is advised to stay home and away from infants and small children or other non-immune people for 21 days after exposure.
