Checking eye pupils
Hi this is Mekhla Debroy.My father is a doctor.He is MS.Whenever he checks me he said M looking very pale pale and he tell me to lie on bed.Then he checks my eyes with torchlight for atleast 5-6 times.He also tell me I am severe anaemic patient.I have also 70% chance to become thalasemia patient.My heamoglobin is 6.What does eye pupils refer?why he use torch light for checking my eye pupils?

Eye pupils ( lower eyelids) is checked for any pallor which is a sign of Anemia. Even eye pupils is checked for jaundice also. Generally eye examination is done in natural light, but can be checked in torch light, if natural light is not available
