Change of BP Medication and side effects
My mother aged 67 used to have Telma 20 for BP.. due to multiple infections she had some medications and I believe due to that side effect she had her BP high (170/80). Telma 20 was not effective. Change of medicine included a H combination to this. ie Telma H 40.This is bringing down BP but have side effects which is difficult to bear for her age . Side effects due to Telma H: fatigue, dizziness, lose motion My question is: can we just continue Telma 40 (without H) instead of Telma 40 H?. This way as she is adjusted to Telma 20, there will no side effects + increased dosage will control her BP. Her BP is 170/80 when high. Her pulse is 55-60 bpm (her natural bpm is always in this range even when there is no BP) No sugar, no thyroid and no cholesterol.

Kindly map her BP in a notebook so that the BP trend can be mapped so that the change in medication can be done accurately. Telma H has Telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide which lowers blood pressure effectively. Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels. This allows the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow. It is a side effect of the Telma H to have dizziness, tiredness, dehydration, etc. So kindly visit your treating doctor and inform of the side effects so that a change of medicine can be given.
