My daughter got her periods last Aug. Can she get the (anti) cervical cancer vaccine now? She's currently having her periods. Does she have to wait till it's over?

There is a myth that cervical cancer vaccine should be only given after periods have started, this is not true any child between the age of 9 to 14 years can take this vaccine and it is generally taken at the age of 10 years, two dose at a gap of 6 months will suffice

Yes she can get vaccine. 2 brands Gerdasil(Quadrivalent) Cervarix( Bivalent) No need to wait till periods get stopped For age 9 to 14 yrs Give 2 doses ...6 months apart ( gap shouldn't be less than 5 months....if less then have to give third dose) Points to note: Will reduce HPV Infection rate and cervical cancer occurrence....will not prevent them Will not protect from STDs infection( EXCEPT HPV INFECTION) Regular examination by gynecologist and PAP SMEAR Testing is like NORMAL Unvaccinated women. If sexually active and had sex earlier need 3 doses of vaccine Even for BOYS Have to give vaccine Reduce the chance of cervical cance, penile cancer, vaginal cancer and mouth cancer S/E pain and redness at injection site
Next Steps
give 2 doses of vaccine preferable GARDASIL
