My mom was diagnosed with carotid stenosis about 70% on ICA origin and >70% stenosis on carotid bulb on left side neck. DR had suggested her to have medicine to dissolve/reduce the cholesterol. Now she has numbness on left hand and pain on left leg. Please suggest next steps.
Attached the doppler reports.

70% stenosis in the Carotid Artery is considered significant. But the thing to note here is Left sided carotid artery supplies Left side of Brain, which inturn controls Right side of the body. These findings donot correlate with your mom's symptoms.
The symptoms may be attributable to either Brain or Spine pathology.
So I would suggest you to
1. Start the cholesterol lowering medications.
2. Get your mom thoroughly examined by a Neurologist or a Neurosurgeon.
3. Get MRI Brain and whole Spine screening.
once the exact diagnosis is established further management can be started.
