Covid is an acute respiratory illness so can cause a spectrum of symptoms with the worse being sever breathlessness requiring oxygen or other forms of assisted ventilation. Can you provide details of her past cardiac illness, you mentioned she has heart disease and pumping is low. Was an Echo done in the past or the pumping became low now? Covid can cause cardiac involvement rarely in the form of cardiomyopathy, heart muscle becoming weak and pumping becoming low which in turn can cause fluid retention in lungs and worsening of breathlessness. Can you share some of her reports. If she is admitted I am sure the doctors are doing the best to handle the crisis.
Next Steps
Need to see her reports of Echo and HRCT chest to opine.
