It is better to have more detailed information about your kidney condition—specifically, the exact type of kidney disease, the degree of protein loss in your urine, your blood pressure control, and your overall health status. In general, pregnancy in women with chronic kidney disease (CKD) carries certain risks. There is a possibility that kidney function may worsen during pregnancy, and serum creatinine levels may rise as the pregnancy progresses. The extent of deterioration, however, varies from person to person and can only be assessed over time. If you decide to proceed with pregnancy, it would be classified as a high-risk pregnancy, requiring close coordination between your nephrologist and an obstetrician experienced in managing high-risk pregnancies. Regular follow-up visits, frequent monitoring of kidney function and blood pressure, and careful adjustment of medications will be essential to optimize outcomes for both you and your baby. Ultimately, the decision to conceive rests with you, after fully understanding the potential risks and the level of monitoring required. With vigilant medical supervision and stable kidney function, many women with mild or well-controlled CKD do have successful pregnancies, though outcomes can sometimes be unpredictable.
