Colonoscopy is an investigation used to look for changes in the large intestine and rectum .
If necessary, polyps or other types of abnormal tissue can be removed through the scope during a colonoscopy. Tissue samples (biopsies) can be taken during a colonoscopy as well.
Bleeding is not from hemorrhoids alone .Any rectal bleeding for long time in above 40 yrs , warrants investigation

Colonoscopy is an investigation, it's not treatment.. Colonoscopy is done to check whether there is any pathology present in colon or not.. Hemorrhoid surgery is done only after colonoscopy.. Consult for proper discussion and treatment modalities available for your condition
