Bronchial Asthma
Hello Doctor, I have few queries: Is bronchial asthma curable? Or we will have to be dependent on inhaler for lifetime? I wanted to join gym for aerobics so is that advisable for me? Can I jog or run? If yes, to what extent? Thanks

Hi. I understand your concern s. Asthma is a chronic disease which can not be cured but can definitely be controlled so that you can have a symptom free life ahead for which you will need to be under regular follow up with a pulmonologist. You will need to undergo pulmonary function test which is needed for the diagnosis as well as to assess severity of asthma based on which treatment can be started. Consult a pulmonologist allergist for the same at the earliest.

Unfortunately asthma is not curable. But the good news is - with good control asthma can remain quiet for many years and one can get out of inhalers. Visit a chest physician before starting gym
