My 3 and half month old baby is sometimes taking breastfeed only for 5 mins. As he used to feed for more than one hour initially (1st month) doctor has suggested to give 15 minutes feed from each breast followed by formula. It was going smooth. But he recently stopped taking 15 min feeding. Often he stops after 5 minutes; though he doesn't seem to be content. He is not showing interest in formula also at times. Is 5 minute breastfeed from each breast enough to satisfy baby ath this age? His weight gain is good enough with 6.2 kg now.

As the child grows and becomes strong he may take his complete milk requirement in a much shorter time than earlier. If he is gaining weight , sleeping well after feed , remains active , poops and urinated well , there is no cause for concern . The 15 min feeding rule is for the initial few weeks of life , thereafter it can be individualized
