BPM 52 to 56
I went for a spinal MRI today that triggered my anxiety. Since then I have been feeling shortness of breath and heart palpitations. Hence, decided to check my heart rate with my watch and turned out my BPM is lower than normal range (52 to 57). Prior to today I never paid attention to my bpm so I don't know if this is the first time or it has been like this for a long time. But I do very frequently feel heart palpitations and sometimes I feel I am unable to complete my breath cycle which is a bit hard to explain. At the same time I am quite physical active (gyming & swimming). Is that normal or should I worry?

Hi, Are you claustrophobic. If yes then you might had an episode of panic attack. A heart rate of around 60bpm is usually considered athletic heart. But if it is associated with giddiness and breathlessness then a cardiac evaluation is needed. ECG to rule out sinus bradycardia or any heart block and an echocardiography to see structural deformity. As you are active in gym without symptoms then there is high probability that you are normal. But an occasional panic attack can also precipitate such symptoms.
