Under my doctor's supervision, I stopped taking HCTZ. I gained 4 lbs, and am retaining water. Is it possible to stop this medication gradually, such as taking it every other day, then reduce to every 3 days, etc?

Hello there.
I can understand your concern.
Hctz is hydrochlorothiazide.
It's a diuretic medication.
I don't know how you are defying everything and instead of losing water you are retaining water.
Consult a MD consultant physician in person for further evaluation and management.
Best regards.
