Blood during passing stool
She has been experiencing a little pain during passing stool for the past few weeks. It settles in between for a few days but again the pain increases and there's itching that lasts for a few minutes afterwards. Now she's seeing blood (bright red) while passing. It has only happened once. Not sure if it's an anal fissure.

Its indeed a anal fissure. An anal fissure is a small tear or crack in the skin lining the anus. The tear causes pain during and after passing stools and may sometimes lead to a small amount of bright red bleeding on the toilet paper or stool.
Next Steps
Try SMUTH OINTMENT application and High fibre diet. Sigmoidoscopy will be painful for a patient with anal fissure.
