Black vomit after drinking vodka
The other night I got a little too drunk and threw up. But it was black ground coffeee colour vomit - I felt fine the next morning though Is this something to be concerned about

Hello. Very Good morning. Yes you should give up Drinking with an immediate effect. The reason behind this is the Projectile vomiting or forceful vomiting, resultant from a highly irritable and inflammed stomach. Might be there is a minor tearing at gastro - Esophagial Junction, the bleeding started and when it mixed with hudrochloric Acid of your stomach,  then it changes colour. You have used the right term black ground coffee colour. I think you should seek an opinion of a Gastroenterologist and have a upper gastro-intestinal endoscopy to get thorough information about the condition. I also advice you to go for a liver function test. Consumption of alcohol, even socially Damage the liver. Untill then you can start, Cap. Pan - L,  one capsule twice a day 30-45 minutes before breakfast and dinner x 5 days. Avoid outside & spicy food. Give rest to your stomach & intestines. Seek medical Attention as soon as possible. If you are doing job, then take a casual leave to done all of these and have some relaxed time. Eat fruits, salads and dates. Please don't worry and take stress unnecessarily, just go to the specialist. Because Health is wealth. You should spend a quality life either on work or at home. Coffee ground vomitus is often an indicator of Gastrointestinal bleeding. Coffee ground vomitus can occur due to various conditions, including gastric ulcers, esophageal varices related to cirrhosis, or gastritis. You should stop drinking. I would advise you to visit a gastrenterlogist so that you can be examined and undergo investigations such as endoscopy, liver function test, ultrasound, etc. to find the underlying cause of the problem and have it treated accordingly. These following steps may help: - Don't skip meals, you may not feel like eating but in such conditions you should have the reduced amount in frequent intervals(i.e. 3 square meals broken down to 5 or 6 as you can tolerate) and slowly increase as you get better. - Reduce/ Avoid spicy,fried, fatty, junk and oily food - Avoid/ Limit drinking coffee, tea and carbonated drinks to once a day - Exercise regularly (30-45mins/day) - Increase daily intake of water to 3 liters - Stop smoking and drinking - Reduce stress through methods such as yoga/meditation. - Avoid painkillers as it will increase your gastric problems at this moment. If the problem persists or worsens visit the gastroenterologist at the earliest.
