Exclusive breastfeeding burns anywhere between 250-500 calories per day (equivalent to 2 hours of yoga or pilates or 1 hour of intense aerobics class) which means you are already burning calories and it helps in gradual weight loss.
A breastfeeding mother should consume minimum 1500-1800 calories per day depending upon your physical activity during the day. Suddenly cutting out calories from the diet or losing weight quickly may affect breastmilk production. Plan it gradually.
Coffee peaks in breastmilk at 1-2 hrs after consumption. You may feed the baby and then consume coffee. Some babies might be sensitive to caffeine causing jitteriness or fussiness in them. So if you observe such things in baby, better to cut down on coffee.
