Yes there is an intramuscular injection called Depo-Provera, that can be taken every 12 weeks. But, when used for more than 1-2 years it can cause reduction in bone density which is reversible and prolonged period of amenorrhea (no periods) initially. It can also cause, spotting of blood for even a month.
