Thank you for your question. According to RCOG guidelines there is no role of steroids for fetal lung maturity after 36 weeks. An elective caesarean section depends on the indication. If delivery is not being done urgently for maternal or fetal reasons elective cs should be done after 39 completed weeks as the risk of respiratory distress syndrome is very low at this gestation compared even to 38 weeks. Please discuss with your consultant for further information and trust their judgement. All guidelines need to be considered in line with the clinical scenario and individual patient risk.
