The soaps precipitate the salts in hard water and it forms a scum along with dead skin cells when he has a bath. It is generally not harmful to the skin. But it can make the hair rough and brittle. Boiling hard water also precipitates the salts and makes it soft. So ask him to boil water and let it cool to an appropriate temperature before he takes a bath. The white kind of formation on his skin may just be dryness and he can use a body lotion daily after bath. Warm regards. Dr. Rajdeep Mysore. Chirag Hospital Bangalore
