Backbone problem
Hi my husband is frequently getting back bone pain.he was hospitalized for a week .the doctors are saying that a gap has raised between backbone joint and tissue. and they are telling that bone has increased and they have to do surgery.is surgery necessary or else there is any treatment plz suggest me.

Need for surgery will be better judged by duration of symptoms, clinical examination and MRI findings
Next Steps
pain radiating down to the legs  associated with weakness and numbness in legs may point more towards surgical management
