MRI findings are mild and reassuring. There are small multilevel disc bulges from L2–L3 to L5–S1, but importantly there is no nerve-root compression, significant canal stenosis, or foraminal narrowing. The L2–L3 disc desiccation and small Schmorl’s node are degenerative/incidental findings and may not fully explain the pain. Six days of physiotherapy is too early to judge the response. Continue a structured program focusing on core strengthening, lumbar stabilization, posture/ergonomics and gradual activity for about 4–6 weeks, provided symptoms are not worsening. Avoid prolonged bed rest.
Health Tips
If pain remains significant despite an adequate conservative-treatment period, a clinical reassessment is more useful than relying on the MRI alone, particularly to look for SI-joint, facet or muscular sources of pain. Seek earlier assessment if there is progressive leg weakness/numbness, bowel or bladder disturbance, saddle numbness, fever, unexplained weight loss or severe night pain
