Hi Post anaesthetic backache depends on  duration of surgery, duration of immobilization, and the position of the patient during spinal puncture., excessive stretching of ligaments after relaxation of paraspinal muscles and localized trauma to the intervertebral disc and so on …but the backache is usually self-limited, lasting from a few days up to a week. Treatment consists of conservative measures, including hot and cold compresses and mild analgesics such as acetaminophen and NSAIDs. Kindly consult  physician for any back pain that is severe or continues despite home treatment. Special imaging studies (such as an X-ray, CT scan or MRI) or blood tests may be needed to diagnose the condition.
