Ativan Escitalopram
Taking ativan 2mg for insomnia for 6 years , recent times struggling with sleep and excessive thinking. Doctor have added escitalopram 10mg along with Ativan, but If I take escitalopram facing gastric and burning during urination on next day. Please suggest.

Long-term Ativan use can cause tolerance. Escitalopram may trigger gastric irritation and urinary discomfort. Adjusting the dose, switching to alternatives and using gastroprotective measures can help. A urine test is advisable.

You can try to step up escitalopram doses to 10 mg. Try first  with 5 mg and then increase upto 10 mg after 5 days. Many times this decreases the gastritis and acidity. You can also consult your psychiatrist to discuss this issue.

take medication after meal at night. also can reduce the dose to 5mg for a week along with any PPI( pantop or omez) in morning empty stomach.

Hi.. you can try taking the tablet with food and use h2 blocker for a few days. Usually it will settle with time.
