Facial asymmetry that develops gradually in your 20s is usually not due to birth defects, but rather to lifestyle factors (such as sleeping on one side, jaw clenching, or poor posture) or minor muscle/nerve imbalances. In many cases, itâs mild and more visible in photos than in real life. Non-surgical options include posture correction, jaw physiotherapy, facial exercises, and in some cases, orthodontic or dental correction - these can improve appearance, though not always fully correct it. If the tilt is new or worsening, you may need to go for imaging to rule out jaw joint or sinus issues. Severe or distressing asymmetry typically requires a cosmetic or orthodontic evaluation.
