Anxiety And life expectancy
Hello Dr's, I have read somewhere that having anxiety and taking Ssri to manage the same may reduce life expectancy. Please provide your expert guidance on the same. Also what precautions can one take to have full life.

Long term SSRI are generally safe. However one has to be at least on monthly review by psychiatrist. SSRIs alone are safe, however if a person is on other medications too then interactions of those medications with SSRIs may be of concern. Hence regular follow up with all details of other medications, with a Psychiatrist is required. Treatment of anxiety reduces morbidity to a great extent, hence comfortable living, indirectly meaning longer life. You may consult me for further details.
