Anxiety and BP
In the first week of June due to corona fobia and stress and anxiety my BP was elevated . I consulted to cardiologist who prescribed ECG and Troponin T test. There is no problem detected in test and I was advised medication I.e. starpress xl two times in a day and telma 40 in morning and alprex in night for 10 days. Further my bp was normal . After 10 days dr asked to do tmt test. The said test is also fine and there is no problem and then dr asked me to continue the medication for 6 months. If I am normal then why there is a need for continuation of BP medicine. BP high only one time is a sign of hypertension and the person has to take medicine for whole life.. kindly suggest pls what to do further . My the last one week my BP is in and around 120/80. Pls advice asap what to do pls . Need expert advice for the cardiologist for further.

Hello, Your reading of 155/97 was high enough to start medicines on a single reading. Secondly, normal ECG ECHO and TMT does not mean you can not have bp issue. These tests are to rule out blood supply related issues to your heart and not bp. And your BP if its normal on these medicines then you are not supposed to stop them as bp will rise again once you stop medicines. Most of the times bp is familial. I need further information from you for determining cause of this high bp along with any modifiable lifestyle possible in order to reduce your bp medicines in future. Take care
