Escitalopram which is a SSRI, increases serotonin levels in your brain, in the first 7-10 days after starting the medication, it is common to feel restlessness, uneasiness and gastric side effects. Gradually as your body gets used to the medication; the anxiety and depressive symptoms will start improving by 2nd - 3rd week onwards

Akathisia is not diagnosed only with inner restlessness. There are other associated signs that needs to be evaluated to confirmt he diagnosis. It is very rare to be induced by a SSRI like escitalopram. If you suspect then get it evaluated.
