Hi It’s quite difficult to tell when any person can get remission; but all that I can say is you can get very good control. I.e ( no pain and able to carryout daily activity without any difficulty). We are more worried about the damage that can occur to the spine due to arthritis. That’s why; even if you do not have any pain or discomfort; we still prefer to continue drug just to avoid the damage to the spine. To assess this control of disease; we usually assess ESR; CRP values and check if they are normal or under control Once the patient attains normal ESR and / or CRP; we eventually reduce the dose of saaz and slowly consider to stop. The only worry we have if we stop is, if the disease may come back; that’s why even you are in clinical remission, we tend to delay the taper / stop of medications soon. But saaz is very mild drug which usually has minimal side effects. We have seen patients on saaz with very good control of disease. I suggest you to continue the tablet, and nothing to worry; you ll be completely alright. Our main target is to achieve your daily living back to normal. Like this disease shuld not affect your activities in any way. That is our target.
