Widal test- Typhoid?

2021-05-21 14:57:22
The Widal test report shows Typhi "H" 1:120 and Typhi "O" 1:60 and Typhi "AH" Negative and Typhi "BH" Negative. Method: Direct slide agglutination. DOES IT INDICATE TYPHOID? What is the severity? What treatment do you prescribe?

The widal test for typhoid has titres whose significance varies from one area to another. Ask the local govt hospital, what the titre significance is in your area of residence( water supply - typhoid is food and water borne infection) In most states of India, titre above 1: 160 are considered diagnostic. Your titres 1:120 and 1: 60 are low, hence though positive, they do not indicate typhoid disease. Infections like covid can also cause typhoid titre levels to increase.
Next Steps
seek consult for your symptoms and not your blood report.
