My daughter is passing white stool lately. It has happened quite a few times in the past and it improves on its own. Is is normal or something that should be consulted with ?

Hi, It can be due to temporary digestion issues but may also indicate bile related concerns. Consult a Pediatrician for proper evaluation. 👍

White or pale-coloured stools are not normal and should not be ignored, even if they have resolved on their own in the past. White stools mean that bile — which gives stools their normal brown colour — is not reaching the gut properly. This can be due to a liver, gallbladder, or bile duct issue. In a child, this is particularly important to investigate as it can indicate biliary atresia or hepatitis if it is recurring.
Next Steps
Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation — your daughter needs a liver function test (LFT) and abdominal ultrasound done, especially since this is a recurring issue.
