Hello, The symptoms of heaviness and numbness in both arms after starting yoga could be due to multiple reasons: Possible causes: Muscle strain / nerve compression in the neck or shoulder (common if new exercises were started suddenly). Cervical spondylosis or nerve impingement (especially if pain/numbness radiates to arms). Vitamin deficiencies (B12, D3, Calcium). Poor posture during yoga leading to temporary nerve/muscle irritation. Rarely, neurological issues if weakness persists. What you can do: Stop difficult postures temporarily and focus on light stretching. Check posture during yoga practice. Get blood tests: Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Calcium. If numbness/heaviness continues or worsens, get an orthopedic/neurology consultation and a cervical spine X-ray/MRI may be needed. Red flag signs: If you develop severe weakness, loss of grip, imbalance, or speech/vision issues – seek emergency medical care. 📞 For further discussion, you may contact me at eight five two seven one six four six seven seven. Best regards, Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician

Initially it depends on what work you do... If u r lifting weight ( above head) then it may lead to pain over neck...which may lead to cervical compression n finally numbness n tingling sensation of both hands ..pain and heaviness...and even dull headache... If u use a pillow that is too height ..then it may cause cervical disc dis alignment as well may lead to the same.. If u r forcing urself to do yoga in incorrect posture.. then it can cause pain strain over the neck..
Next Steps
let me know ur weight .. nature of work u do . then u should correct ur sitting n sleeping posture

Hello there As easy as it seems, but yoga done improperly can also lead to pain in your body due to incorrect posture or breathing techniques. As considering your age, starting yoga will cause pain initially, but as you get used to it, you'll feel more at ease doing it.
Next Steps
You should start by focusing on breathing techniques at first , and then adding asanas to it day by day
Health Tips
Avoid over -exercising or weight lifting in case you're feeling weak. In case your symptoms doesn't improve/worsen do consult a nearby doctor and get physical examination and blood counts done.

Thank you for your query. Since you have recently started yoga, it’s possible that muscle overuse or nerve compression due to posture is causing heaviness in your arms. However, numbness and heaviness in both arms can sometimes also occur due to nerve, spine, or even heart-related issues.
Next Steps
I would recommend: Take rest from strenuous yoga postures for a few days. Check your blood pressure and blood sugar (if you have a history). If you also have chest pain, breathlessness, dizziness, or weakness, please visit the nearest emergency/consult a doctor immediately.
Health Tips
If symptoms persist for more than a few days, get a physical check-up with a neurologist or physician to rule out any underlying cause.

Have you tried any new asanas in the last few days? That cause cause temporary weakness due to muscle injury. If you’ve been doing everything the same and still have developed sudden onset weakness I suggest you consult a neurologist physically who can examine the power in all four limbs and if need be do a nerve conduction study to check if there is apparent neurological deficit.

The heaviness and numbness can be a sign of fatigue. However if you feel that you are prone to diabetes or a known diabetic patient, it would be advisable to check your blood sugar level first. If you feel numbness on one side of the body, consult a doctor immediately/please go to emergency room as it may be a sign of stroke.
Next Steps
Check blood sugar level.
