After a resistant E. coli urinary infection, a residual or partially treated infection has to be ruled out first, as it can cause a dull ache above the pubic bone and around the flank. However, an ache above the belly button with nausea, along with left hip bone area discomfort, also fits with gastritis or acid reflux and referred musculoskeletal pain, especially after a course of strong antibiotics.
Next Steps
Please repeat a urine routine and urine culture with sensitivity to confirm the infection has cleared, and get an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis including the kidneys, ureters and bladder. A CBC and blood
sugar are also worth doing. Meanwhile drink 2.5 to 3 litres of water daily, eat small frequent bland meals, and avoid spicy food, alcohol and painkillers such as ibuprofen. Do not start or repeat antibiotics on your own.
