Toothache of a 3.5yrs old

My 3.5yrs old son has got a cavity in his upper two molars each on one side...now he has been complaining of pain...then we visited the dentist..he prescribed some antibiotics which dint work n his complete left side of the face is swollen. Now he changed the antibiotics and gave heavier dose. I am wondering now what to do...extract or RCT. Please guide on the procedure, precautions and side effects of both

Avoid extraction of the tooth as far as possible at this age.... u should save the tooth if possible by Root canal treatment.... if not able to, then and then only go for extraction followed immediately by space maintainer

It depends on the condition of the tooth. If it is badly broken then it will require extraction. If it responds to treatment and can be restored then RCT. Sometimes RCT teeth can show reinfection in children. If extraction is done the doctor should give a space maintainer
