Tooth infection despite dental crowns

I have gotten dental crowns on upper front teeth for aesthetic purpose last year. Now there's constant pain in my upper canines. After inspection and x ray by a dentist, it was found that the teeth are infected. How can my teeth be infected when they're protected by crowns and regular brushing? Are the crowns faulty?

Your teeth get infected despite of having crowns..hygiene maintainance must be the reason. There might be some space between the tooth and crown which leads to infection.If your infection is limited to only crown ..not approaching nerves go for restoration. And if it is beyond it then you have to go for root canal.

Hi sir Crowns are not at fault,hygiene and brushing habits could be the reason. Infection underneath should be your priority and can be corrected early with better results. share x-rays . Regards Dr Parul Rai

It’s because of poor oral hygiene maintenance. How many times do you brush your teeth??

The reason could be that there might have been a gap between the crown and tooth and so the tooth inside was as seceptable to carries as any other tooth..  could be the fault of the crown or the cementing..

We often assume that after after crown we will never face any problem with that tooth.But a crowned tooth is as susceptible to caries as any other tooth.Pain can occur due to: -Plaque accumulation leading to inflammation of pulp - root fracture - crown related pain

Teeth can be infected if there is a gap between crown margin and tooth due to seepage of fluids inside. Reason for pain can be ascertained after a check up

There can be seepage of liquids in the area between the tooth and bone. So the teeth may damage internally. So get it checked by a proper dentist and get the treatment done
