To understand weeks for the 7th month

2026-08-27 07:44:24
Hi doctors, We are confused about when the 7th month begins and are pretty confused because a lot of the blogs and journals say that weeks 25 to 28 are the 7th month, while some say that weeks 27 to 30 are the 7th month and some 28 to 31. How do we calculate this and which weeks are actually the 7th month? This would be of great help for us, thank you.

Before I answer your question I want to ask you a pointed question, " What will you do if the 7th month is 25 to 28 weeks or it is 27 to 28 weeks or it is 28 to 31 weeks?" Please remember that someone else is going to decide the further course of action, not you. How will it be a "great help" for you ?

Pregnancy is dated in weeks from the last menstrual period (LMP), not by calendar months — which is why the blogs disagree. Two conventions are in use: in the lunar-month system (28 days each), which most Indian OB textbooks follow, weeks 25 to 28 make up the 7th month. In calendar months, it works out to roughly weeks 27–30. Either is acceptable; your gynaecologist will always track pregnancy by weeks, not months.
Next Steps
If you already have a due date from your obstetrician, count backwards 40 weeks to find the LMP, and every week can be mapped to a month either way. From month 8, scans typically move from monthly to fortnightly, so the visit schedule itself confirms the last stretch.

Start calculation from the first day of your last period to get the number of weeks. Total pregnancy of 40 weeks is approx 9 months 10 days. So if you count back from that - 26-30 weeks therefore approx is the 7th month. Having said that, the exact month is not necessary as your gynaec will follow only basis weeks of pregnancy

Depends on many factors like regular periods So if your period is regular, then 30 completed weeks, you can say 7 completed months
