Thyroiditis  is slightly peculiar in its behavior because depending on the stage of the disease patient may be hyperthyroid (for 4 to 6 weeks) ,  hyperthyroid (for 4 to  6 months) and subsequently become  euthyroid. In initial stages thyroid is not producing hormones  but the stored hormones are released in excessive amount as the gland is damaged, In next stage  all the stores are depleted and thyroid is not producing new hormones.  So patient is hyperthyroid. In the recovery phase  thyroid slowly starts becoming normal. Accordingly  the levels of thyroid hormones vary according to stage of the disease.

Thyrioditis is possible with normal values of thyroid hormones. You need to do thyroid antibodies. Symptoms may be due to sub clinical hypothyroidism.
