Dear Practo User. Thanks for sending across your query. If PEP is delayed beyond 72 hours, it's less effective. For confirmed HIV status, a 4th-gen test at 6 weeks gives good indication, but definitive results are at 12 weeks. Delayed PEP doesn’t change window periods, but regular follow-up is vital.
