Tendon is a rope like structure which attaches to bones and helps the muscles pull your bones and joints open and close. Tendon can get damaged by implants and screws like your plate. Or they can spontaneously also start damaging when body starts attacking it like in autoimmune conditions. Or they can be damaged due to the bone edge of fractures. Or they can be damaged due to the injury itself. Once damaged they become weak and due to continued use they can tear into 2 strips. Or splint into 2 parts tearing completely. Tendons can sometimes heal, and sometimes don't heal at all. They are generally considered poor in their healing hence we use grafts instead. Yes healing tendon means they either heal to each other or to the bone attachment. Can take 6 months to a year to heal well. You can take vitamin d injections to maintain good healing system in your body. Generally fresh produce and seasonal fruits and veges are good for giving a balanced diet and all required nutrition for body to heal.
